Evelyn Phillips Ramsey, 83, of Kerrville, passed away Friday, June 22. She was surrounded by family who held her gentle hand until our loving God called her home. A native of Kerrville,she was born to Leslie and Mildred Ottinger on January 7, 1929 and lived the majority of her life in the hill country.
She married Jack Ramsey on January 25, 2003 in Kerrville, Texas. She attended The University of Texas in Austin and later graduated from The University of North Texas in Denton, Texas earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Interior Design and a Masters in Art History.
Evelyn is preceded in death by her parents Leslie and Mildred Ottinger and great-grandson Ayden Phillips.
Evelyn is survived by her husband, Jack Ramsey, her brother and his wife Leslie and Joan Ottinger of Nantucket, Massachusetts, daughter and her husband Nancy and Larry Gleason of Kerrville, son and his fiancé Cliff (Phil) Phillips and Debbie Schami of Leander, Texas, son and his wife Jim and Michelle Phillips of Slidell, Louisiana; grandchildren Dusty Phillips, Kara Gleason Hui, Amanda Gleason Stewart, Dwayne Phillips, Jennifer Phillips Woltman, Darryl Phillips and Julianna Phillips Hartdegen. She is also survived by eleven great-grandchildren and multiple nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be at Grimes Funeral Chapels on Tuesday, June 26 from 5-7 p.m.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday June 27th at the First United Methodist Church of Kerrville located at 321 Thompson Drive, with Judi Mayne officiating.
Evelyn’s family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to loving caregivers on C and E wings at Hilltop Village and Odyssey Hospice. The love and kindness our mother received while in your care will forever live in our hearts.
