JACKSONVILLE — Graveside services for William L. Phillips, age 84, of Jacksonville are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Thursday, June 23, 2011 in Cedar Hill Cemetery with Rev. Jerry Stanley officiating under the direction of Wallace-Thompson Funeral Home in Rusk.
Mr. Phillips died June 20, 2011 in Malakoff, TX. He was born March 27, 1927 in Wichita, Kansas. Mr. Phillips was a resident of Cherokee County for 40 years and was a retired auto mechanic. He served in the United States Navy during World War II.
Preceded in death by his wife, Lanore Phillips, mother, Alta Harper, son, William Eugene Phillips. Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, David and Raenae Phillips of Jacksonville, five daughters and son-in-law, Patricia Decanter of Jacksonville, Judy Johnson of Ironwood, Michigan, Vickie Berryhill of Tyler, Debra Gore of Jacksonville, Karen and Charles Thompson of Malakoff, brother and sister-in-law, Dennis and Peggy Harper of Jacksonville, sister, Judy Harper of Jacksonville, Florida, fourteen grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, eight great great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will include Quinton Caspari, Eric Murphrey, Cory Mettlen, Michael Phillips, Brandon Phillips, Charles Thompson and Shawn Gore.
Family will receive friends from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 22, 2011 at the funeral home.
