Abner Phillips Died Wednesday After Brief Illness
Louis Abner Phillips, age 63, died at one o’clock Wednesday afternoon at his home on South Church Street after a brief illness, although in ill health for some time.
Mr. Phillips, who was tombstone salesman, was born in Charles Town on August 5, 1889 and was a son of the late Edward Wilson and Hannah Diehl Phillips of the County.
Survivors include his wife, a former Miss Conard of the County; two children, Mrs. John C. Burton and Conard A. Phillips, both of Washington, D.C.; two grandchildren and the following brothers and a sister, Charles E. Phillips of Washington, D.C., Fred B. Phillips of Kensington, Md., George D. Phillips of Charles Town and Mrs. William B. Stuck of Charles Town.
The body was removed on Thursday afternoon from the Melvin T. Strider Funeral Home to the home of his sister, Mrs. William B. Struck on South George Street, where services will be held on Friday afternoon at two o’clock with the Rev. C. Lloyd Arehart in charge.
Interment will follow at Edge Hill Cemetery.
Bearers for Mr. Phillips will include C. Wm. Moore, Harry Cain, Guy Ebersole, Loyal Anderson, Dr. W.E. Trussell and Francis Printz.
