Dean Howard Phillips, 80, of Kerrville, Texas passed from this life on December 21, 2012 at a care facility in Fredericksburg, Texas.
Dean was born May 28, 1932 in Waukegan, Illinois to Howard and Ruth (Domianus) Phillips. He grew up in Houston and married Margaret S. Capps on November 19, 1949 in Houston. He worked for Southern States Optical for thirty-five years then went to work for Duffens Optical until he retired. He was a Demalay then a Mason. He was very active in the Masonic Lodge, former Master of the Oak Forest Lodge in Houston in 1981-82, and an endowed member of the Oak Forest and Kerrville Lodges. He was also an endowed member of the Scottish Rite in Houston and San Antonio. He enjoyed teaching most of all, and taught over 125 men while he was an active Mason. He also attended the La Fayette Lodge in La Grange for 17 years.
Dean was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, and a sister.
Those left to honor and cherish his memory include his wife Margaret; daughter, Lana Bauerkemper; granddaughter, Stephanie Gray and husband George; great-grandson, Raylen; a brother and sister-in-law, and many nieces and nephews.
Graveside services with Masonic Rites provided by the La Fayette Lodge #34 A.F.&A.M. will be held 1:00 PM, Monday, January 7, 2012 at Drawe Cemetery on Willow Springs Road in Warrenton, TX.
The family suggests that memorial donations be made to Bob Anderson, 2059 Eastridge Lane, Carson City, Nevada 89706.
