Phillips Death Friday
Mrs. Sally Ann Gilmore Phillips, 72, of Route 2, Polkton, died Friday in the Anson County Hospital.

She was the widow of the late Walter B. Phillips.

A native of Montgomery County, she was the daughter of the late Hallie Harmon and Eugenia Carpenter Gilmore, and was born August 10, 1900.

Funeral services were held Sunday at 3 p.m. at Polkton Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Frank Wooten. Interment followed in the Griffin Cemetery.

Survivors include seven daughters, Mrs. Robert Carpenter and Mrs. Walter Preslar, both of Polkton, Mrs. John Tarlton, Mrs. James Bailey, and Mrs. Carolina Vaughn, all of Wadesboro, Mrs. Bill Hinson, of Norwood and Mrs. Johnny Sharpe of Statesville; and five sons, Clayton Phillips, John Phillips, all of Statesville, Earl Phillips of Ansonville and James Phillips of Polkton.

Also surviving are two brothers, Henry Gilmore of Norwood and Lonnie Gilmore of Dublin; 34 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
