DIED IN CALIFORNIA.

Mr. Orrin L. Phillips, a former resident of Fredonia and Sheridan Center, died at his home in the city of Los Angeles on the 18th Feb., aged 78 years. Mr. Phillips was a veteran of the Civil War, and suffered from wounds received in that conflict. Members of the G.A.R. acted as honorary pallbearers and the bugler sounded taps over the grave.

He is survived by his wife, a daughter of the late Wm. Griswold, one of the early pioneer settlers of Sheridan and two daughters, one a resident of Los Angeles and the other of Cascade-Locks Oregon.
