Cumming Clarion: "Mr. Lewis B. Phillips died quite suddenly on Tuesday night last, at his home, three miles south of Cumming. He had been hoeing in the forenoon of that day and was engaged digging a trough to make cider in the afternoon. He had not complained at any time during the day. About eleven o'clock at night one of his daughters awoke and heard him making an unusual noise and called to him, but received no answer, went to his bed and found him dying. He breathed but a few times after they went to him. He probably died of apoplexy. Mr. Phillips was about sixty-three years old, and quite a stout man. He had been for many years a citizen of this county."
