Iam interested in how or who turned up this old obit. I hope someone else is looking at the line and doing better than I am. Any info. would be appreciated. Thanks Carol

Hi, Carol,

It looks like it was Mamie who found the old obit on your Luther E. Phillips. Mamie has collected a lot of information on Phillips over the years, but I doubt she is specifically researching your Luther E. Phillips.

A lot of people have posted family trees for your Walker Phillips on Ancestry.com, but none of them indicate the name of his parents. Most of them say he was born 10 Oct 1829 in North Carolina. He appears on the 1850 census in Smith Co TN.

If you have a male Phillips relative who would agree to take a painless and private DNA test, you might be able to discover which of the more than 70 distinct and unrelated Phillips families is yours.

Sincerely,
Nancy Kiser

Thank you for responding. About 1 year ago you sent me some very much appreciated info. about this line and the Traywick family.(Walker Phillips was married to Eliz. Perlina Traywick)There are several trees that include Walker but we are all stuck with him. So far I haven't located a "Phillips" male to test but be sure when I do I will beg him to do a test! Thank you again....VERY much, Carol Winfree
