PHILLIPS, John Blair March 9, 1958 - November 10, 2010 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of John Phillips, on November 10, 2010 at the age of 52 years. John was born in Kindersley, Saskatchewan, the fourth child of Murray and Thelma (Cannon) Phillips. He was a gentle boy, a good friend to many, a skilled and energetic football linebacker and hockey defenceman, and a quick wit - he was always laughing and had those around him laughing as well. He graduated from Kindersley Composite High School in 1976, and attended Mount Royal College, where he obtained a Degree in Business Administration in 1981. He started working with NOWSCO in Kindersley. A quick study, he learned the business quickly and rose to be a Cementing Engineer on oil wells - later transitioning into the nitrogen side of the business and moving to Singapore to run coiled tubing nitrogen units offshore in the China Sea. John travelled the world with his work, which was a testament to his expertise in his field. He was most recently employed by NOV Hydra Rig, Calgary, and loved his work with them as a project Manager. He also helped with the training of the units that NOV built. John and Sabrina, were married in 1995, and lived in Red Deer for eleven years before moving to Okotoks, AB. John loved spending time with his family and friends, cooking, riding his motorcycle and the outdoors. He loved to travel and his greatest desire was to see Africa. John is survived by his loving wife, Sabrina; daughter Jamie; son Blair and stepsons, Brent, Andrew and Devon; and two grandchildren, Lilianna and Lucas. He will be lovingly remembered by his siblings, Diane (Gene) Aulinger, Jim Phillips, Karen (Brian) McConnell, Laura Phillips, nieces and nephews, and because of the blended family, many in-laws, cousins; and friends, all who will dearly miss him. A Funeral Service will be held at SOUTH CALGARY FUNERAL CENTRE, 12700 Macleod Trail South (at Lake Fraser Gate), Calgary on Wednesday, November 17, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. If friends so desire, memorial donations may be made directly to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, No. 100, 119 - 14 Street N.W., Calgary, AB T2N 1Z6.
