PHILLIPS, (Madge) Mary Isabelle January 6, 1914 - October 20, 2010Mary was born on her parents' homestead southeast of Hanna and south of Richdale in the Berry Creek area on January 6, 1914 and passed away peacefully at the Rockyview Hospital on October 20 at the age of 96. She married William (Bill) Phillips on August 18, 1939 and remained together until Bill passed away on October 2, 1997. Mary is survived by her brother Doug (Carolyn) Madge from Rockyford, AB and her six children: Bill (Mary Evelyn) of Dekalb, Ill.; Mary-Louise Lapish of Alix, AB; James (Donna) of Calgary; Wilf of Calgary; Fred of Calgary; Gordon of Calgary; fifteen grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren. Mary had lived in the same house since 1947 where she raised her six children. Gordon continued to live with mother until her passing away. Mary was a founding member of Bethany Chapel where she attended for the past sixty years. Mary grew up in the Berry Creek area, attended the first class of Three Hills Bible School, completed nursing in Calgary and worked at the Scottish Nursing Home. A special thanks to the medical staff of Unit 71 of the Rockyview Hospital who cared for Mary since August 30. A Memorial Service will be held at Bethany Chapel, 3333 Richardson Way S.W., at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 26. If so desired, donations may be made in Mary's name to Camp Okotoks (3333 Richardson Way S.W., T3E 7B6). Arrangements entrusted to Mountain View Funeral Home and Cemetery.
