PITTSBURG - Edward N. "Sammy" Phillips, 67, of Pittsburg, died Saturday, Nov. 13, 2010, in Dallas.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 17, at Bates-Cooper-Sloan Chapel with Bro. David Posey officiating. Interment will follow at Nevills Chapel Cemetery under the direction of Bates-Cooper-Sloan Funeral Home.
Mr. Phillips was born on Jan. 2, 1943, in Daingerfield, the son of Roy Phillips and Christine (Clemons) Phillips. He worked in maintenance at TXU as Preventive Maintenance Supervisor.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy S. (Mars) Phillips of Pittsburg; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Doug and Melissa Phillips of Lake Worth, Scott and Cheryl Phillips and Kenneth Phillips, all of Mount Pleasant; and Denise Craig of Naples; seven grandchildren, Lesley, Mark, Tara, Morgan and Kenny Phillips, and Taylor and Vinny Wood; and seven step-grandchildren, Amy, Jayme and Penny, Michael, Ashley, Chelsea and Tori; and six great-grandchildren; and a sister, Patsy Owings of Pittsburg; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his grandson, Benjamin Matthew Phillips; his parents; a brother, Ross Allen Phillips and a sister, Mary Jester.
The family will receive friends from 6 - 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
