DAINGERFIELD - Edd Russell "Shorty" Phillips, 77, of Daingerfield died Thursday, Sept. 11, 2008, at his residence. Services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 13, at Reeder-Davis Chapel in Hughes Springs with the Rev. Scott Darby officiating. Interment followed at Bradfield Chapel Cemetery in Daingerfield under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home, Inc.
He was born on Aug. 13, 1931 in Morris County, the son of Marvin and Opal Phillips. He was a Baptist.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Peggy Dodd Phillips; two daughters and a son-in-law, Shirley and Michael Bearden of Greenville, and "Binky" Holsopple of Daingerfield; four grandchildren, Eric Holsopple, Kristin Holsopple, Misty Bearden and Harlan Bearden; one brother, Thomas Gerald Phillips of Cason; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Bobby Ruth Mullins.
