PHILLIPS, John Samuel, died Friday, January 4, 2008 at his home. He was born in Texarkana, TX on August 12, 1925 to John and Sammie Phillips.
His degrees were earned from Ouachita Baptist University and Southern Baptist Theological University. He had pastored in Alabama, Arkansas, Kentucky and New Mexico. Sam taught at Texas Tech University from 1967-1971. He had served as Minister of Pastoral Care, First Baptist Church in Tulsa.
He is survived by his wife, Gloria; daughters, Ginny Allen and husband, Lee of Louisiana, Marty Phillips of Tulsa, Catherine Caracio and husband, Rich of Pennsylvania; six grandchildren, Munci and Braxon Mundell of Tulsa, Rebekah Allen of Mississippi, Sam Allen of Tennessee, Cohlmia and michaela Caracio of Pennsylvania; brother, Henry and wife, Christine of Georgia; sister, Lillian Hill and husband, Ray of Florida.
The family will received friends from 3-5 PM, Sunday, January 6 at Moore's Southlawn. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M., Monday, January 7, 2008 at Asbury United Methodist Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be designated to Grace Hospice of Tulsa or The Salvation Army.
