DNA tests to uncover Jewish origins have been offered for a decade by companies such as Houston-based Family Tree DNA.  However, most DNA tests have traditionally relied on only two small parts of the genome: the Y-chromosome and mtDNA.  These two tests essentially ignore the bulk of someone's DNA and cannot detect genetic signatures that cross gender lines.  However, the new autosomal DNA tests are different.  Click here to read more about three people who discovered unknown Jewish lines through autosomal DNA testing.
