The Phillips homestead in Benton County, Arkansas, taken about 1870. I do not know who each person is, but according to the 1870 census, the household included Mason, age 70, daughters Rebecca age 27, Deborah Jeanette age 24, Susan age 15 and son Seyborn age 22. Note the pictures hanging on the porch pillars, possibly of Debbie Kendrick Phillips who died in 1862. The younger children could be grandchildren. |
This is my great-grandfather, Joseph Burton Phillips, b. 1862. He was the son of William C. Phillips, 5th child of Mason. Joseph married Josephine Matherly in 1884. One picture is of them, probably a wedding picture, Joseph age 22 and Josephine age 17. |
The Joseph B. Phillips family picture is of Joseph and Josephine with their children: (left to right-back row) Ethel, Eugene, Earl, Eva, (front row) Orlin, Josephine, Elsie and Joseph. Taken about 1900 in Davenport, Washington. Earl was my grandfather. |
