Funeral services for Jerry Lee Bowers, 61, of Cushing will be at 11 a.m. Friday in the Dickie Allen Funeral Home Chapel in Cushing with the Rev. Grady Gladden, the Rev. Glen Bowers and Dr. Dan Rhodes officiating. Burial will be in McKnight Cemetery near Cushing.
Bowers died Oct. 5, 2004, in Nacogdoches.
He was born January 26, 1943, in Woden, Texas, to Eugene and Vessie Mae Phillips Bowers. Mr. Bowers had lived in Cushing for 28 years where he served in the Lions Club, was fire chief of the Cushing Volunteer Fire Department, served as the city manager of Cushing and was a member of the Sprinkler's Union. He was a member of the McKnight Methodist Church and served on the board of the McKnight Cemetery.
He was preceded in death by wife, Eloise Bowers; and a sister, Melba Hughes.
Survivors include his wife, Gail Bowers of Cushing, Texas; sons and daughters-in-law, Jeffrey and Laurie Bowers of Memphis, Tennessee, and Dwaine and Christie Daugherty of Tyler, Texas; brothers and sisters-in-law, E.C. and Claudette Bowers of Sand Spring, Oklahoma, Doyle "Glen" and Pat Bowers of Crosby Texas, Murray and Jeannie Bowers of Sacul, Texas, Jesse and Kay Bowers of Nacogdoches, Texas, and Roy and Linda Bowers of Nacogdoches Texas; and four grandchildren, Briana Bowers, Emma Bowers, Hayes Daugherty and Paisley Daugherty.
Pallbearers will be Doyle Bowers Jr., Stephen Bowers, Paul La Bontz, Kerry Don Williamson, Terry Dean Williamson, Cris Williamson, Charlie Jackson, Charlie Jackson Jr. and Daniel Spivey. Honorary pallbearers will be Aubrey Fenton and members of the Cushing Volunteer Fire Department.
Visitation will be from 6 until 8 p.m. today at Dickie Allen Funeral Home in Cushing. Dickie Allen Funeral Home, Cushing.
