1912: George L. Phillips, from Essex Co. VA; d. Bethany, MO. was created by Mamie

George L. Phillips died in Bethany, Missouri, July 28, 1912. He came to Harrison County from Essex County, Virginia. At the time of his death he was president of the Bethany Hardware Company, one of the largest hardware stores in North Missouri. He was appointed post-master of Bethany in 1884. He was at the time of his death the oldest
in business of all Bethany citizens.
