Roy E. Brockway was born in the Wilson Community near Terrell on July 17, 1931 to Everett Wallace Brockway and Hattie Irene Phillips. Roy passed away in Kaufman on August 29, 2012.
Roy was raised in the Wilson Community and later moved to the Rand Community in Kaufman County where he lived all of his life. Roy was the sheriff of Kaufman County for twenty years. Roy was also an announcer for local rodeos and little league football for many years. He was a member of the Ola Church of Christ.
On July 3, 1958 Roy married Shirley Nell Long in Forney, Texas.
His parents and his sister Mildred Graham, brothers Earl Thomas Brockway, Everett Brockway and Billy Brockway, preceded Roy in death.
Roy is survived by his wife Shirley of Rand, sons: Roy Timothy Brockway of Ola and Michel Wade Brockway of Rand, grandchildren: Shane, Casey, Cyle, Leslie and Catey, great-grandchildren: Dayton, Mariah, Caden, Cylie, Karoline, Cooper and Madisyn, brother: Neal Don Brockway of Terrell, sister: Clara Dodd of Ola and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
In lieu of flowers family has requested memorials be made to the Ola Church of Christ Building Fund or a charity of their choice.
Funeral Service: Saturday September 1, 2012, 10:00 A.M. at Parker-Ashworth Funeral Home.
Visitation: Friday August 31, 2012, 6:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. at Parker-Ashworth Funeral Home.
Interment: Saturday September 1, 2012 at Fox Cemetery.
