Alvin Wilson Phillips, Jr. passed away December 11, 1992. Born October 5, 1915 in Wichita Falls, Texas, he was an honor graduate of the University of Texas Law School receiving his LLB in 1940. As well as being an honorory member of the State Bar of Texas for 50 years, Mr. Phillips served as a Naval Lt. in the Pacific Theater commanding a sub-chaser during World War II. As a member of the Masonic Lodge, Stockdale Lodge 470, he was awarded the degree of Master Mason in 1959.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Mr. & Mrs. A.W. Phillips, Sr.; a brother, Richard Paul Phillips; a sister, Paxton Phillips Fatheree.
He is survived by his wife, Sybil F. Phillips; sister, Mattie Lou Starnes of San Antonio; son, Phillip P. Phillips of Harlingen; daughters, Rhonda P. Cunningham of Rockport, Summer P. Pierce of Dallas; grandchildren, Carrie L. Phillips of Dallas, Zachary P. Cunningham of Rockport, Alicia Michele and William Bauer of Harlingen, as well as many nieces & nephews.
Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. today, Sunday, December 13, 1992, Myers Funeral Home Chapel in Stockdale, Texas.
The family requests that any memorials be made to the University of Texas Health Service Center for Cancer Research, 7703 Floyd Curl Drive, San Antonio, Texas 78184.
