Funeral for Rev. Lee Parker Phillips, 88, of 4809 Pearl will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. in First Church of the Nazarene with interment in Sunset Memorial Park.

Officiating will be Rev. Ralph West, district superintendent for First Church of the Nazarene in Louisiana; Rev. Ron Scarlett, pastor of First Church of the Nazarene in Nacogdoches; and Rev. Bob Lothenore, director of Home Missions for First Church of the Nazarene in Houston District.

Mr. Phillips died Monday, March 27, 1989, in Medical Center Hospital.

Born January 24, 1901, in Waco, he was the son of William Peck and Mary Elizabeth Phillips. He became a lay minister in the Church of the Nazarene in the 1930s and was ordained in 1936. He was pastor in Alvin, Temple, Coleman, and Artesia, N.M. He was owner of a sign business in Waco.

He and Ruby Lee Surginer were married March 23, 1918, and she survives him.

Also surviving are a son, Carroll Phillips, of Nacogdoches; a daughter, Virginia Lovett of Lake Elismore, Calif.; seven grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sons, Horace Layman and Billy Ross Phillips, and a daughter, Mary Elizabeth Phillips.

Pallbearers will be William R. Phillips, Bryant Bass, Rodney Eller, Ron Foshee, Ray Drake, and Rev. Doug Roach. Honorary pallbearers will be members of Friendship Sunday School Class of First Church of the Nazarene.

Music will be directed by First Church of the Nazarene.

Visitation will be Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m.

Memorials may be gifts to First Church of the Nazarene or a charity of choice.

Laird Funeral Home will direct arrangements.
