Funeral for Herman Phillips, 61, of Nacogdoches will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Cason Monk-Metcalf Sunset Chapel with the Rev. Stafford Harris, pastor of Gravel Ridge Missionary Baptist Church, officiating and burial in Saints Rest Cemetery.
Phillips died July 20, 1997, in his home.
born June 1, 1936, in Nacogdoches County, son of J.W. Phillips, Sr. and Sudie McAffee, he was a retired house painter and a member of Saints Rest Baptist Church.
Surviving are two sons, Jimmy Phillips of Nacogdoches and Ronnie Phillips of Nacogdoches; two daughters, Marily Ham of Nacogdoches and Cindy Phillips of Nacogdoches; one brother, J.W. Phillips, Jr. of Nacogdoches; one sister, Lennie Renfrow of Jacksonville, Texas; and two grandchildren, Greg Phillips of Nacogdoches and Brittany Phillips of Taylorville, Illinois.
Pallbearers will be Hubert Morgan, Gary Stripling, Jewel Sanford, Milburn Dudley, Wilburn Dudley and Mike Phillips.
Honorary pallbearers will be Bobby Morgan, Jesse Sanford, Luther Ables, Greg Phillips and Dana Cauthren.
Visitation was from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday.
