Mr. Joe F. Phillips

Mr. Phillips was born in Georgia November 28, 1864, died October 21, 1931 at Peacock, Texas.

He, with his parents, left Georgia and came to Texas at the age of 7 years. He has lived in different parts of the state but has spent several years in Stonewall and Kent counties. He was a good man and a good neighbor and had many friends who regret to learn of his going and by whom he will be missed.

He became a christian in 1919 and joined the Methodist church, of which he was a member until his death.

This writer has known Bro. Phillips for quite a number of years and found him ever ready to give evidence of that hope of a better place after death.

Mr. Phillips was married to Miss Sue Hinton in January 1888.

To this union, eleven children were born-only four survive. They are: Mr. Van Phillips and Mrs. Daisy Phillips, of Peacock, Mrs. Mattie Walker, of Jayton, Texas, and Mrs. Kate Martin, of Corsicana, Texas.

Funeral services were conducted by the writer and interment was had in the Aspermont cemetery Monday afternoon.

May the blessings God rest and abide with each bereaved heart.
-D.N. White
