Troy O. Phillips, 78, was born September 9, 1919 in Smithville, Oklahoma. Passed away February 4, 1998 in Houston, Texas.

Former member of Park Temple Batpist Church, where he served as a deacon and Sunday School teacher for over 40 years and had received several recognitions for perfect attendance during that time. He served as Chairman of Deacons, and chaired various committees throughout those years. Troy was currently a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Houston.

He was a Mason from Ondale Park Lodge #1347, member of Lindale Park Civic Club and many other organizations too numerous to mention. After retirement, he enjoyed his position as Parker at the Astrodome in Houston for almost 10 years and had many friends there.

Preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie LeFerne Barnes Phillips; parents, Gabriel Coleman and Hattie Emiline Phillips; sister, Clara Mae Phillips Chatham; brothers, Lewis Coleman Phillips, Freddie L. Phillips, Guy C. Phillips, Herman Carl Phillips, Dewey Drew Phillips, Gabriel Coleman Phillips, Jr.

Survived by daughter, Lou Ann & husband Woodrow Lunsford, Jr.; two grandchilren, Mark Kerwin Lunsford & wife Gina, Kay Lynn Hindmon & husband Alex; three great-grandchildren, Phillip Mark Lunsford, Lauren Gina Lunsford & Troy Alexander Hindmon; one sister, Mildred Phillips Caruthers, and numerous other relatives.

Friends may visit at Brookside Funeral Home beginning at 1:00 P.M., Friday, February 6, 1998. The family will be present from 6:00 P.M. Friday evening.

Funeral services will be held at 11:30 A.M., Saturday, February 7, 1998 in the Brookside Funeral Chapel, with Rev. Charles Echols officiating. Interment will follow in the Brookside Memorial Park.
