Dawn Deanna Sturgill-Phillips, 51, died December 15, 2010, in Chandler, AZ. She was born April 29, 1959 in Charleston, WV. Those who proceeded Dawn include her mother Shirley Horton Sturgill and her grandmother Dorothy Horton. She leaves behind her husband Mark Phillips, her son, the joy of her life, Nathaniel, her father Lionel and her sisters, Sheere Huddleston, Julie Burdett, and Robin Ann Sturgill. Dawn was an incredible and gifted physician. First as a member of the teaching faculty of Northwestern University Hospital in Chicago, later moving to Phoenix where she worked as an internal medicine doctor affiliated with St. Joseph's Hospital, and finally working for a practice which made house calls to homebound patients. She was passionate about her work and an advocate to those she served. Dawn was a loving wife and mother; Mark's soul mate and Nathaniel's confidant. A memorial service is still being planned for Phoenix. She will be buried in the Sturgill family plot in Charleston, West Virginia.
