DEATH OF MRS. PHILLIPS.
Mrs. Bessie M. Phillips died at 6 o'clock yesterday afternoon at her residence, No. 117 east Thirteenth street. She had been in ill health for a long time, and her death, though causing great sorrow among her friends, was not a surprise.
Mrs. Phillips was the widow of Mr. W. A. Phillips, who died some time ago, and was a woman of beautiful Christian character. She had been for some years an active and zealous member of Broadstreet Methodist church, in Richmond. Mrs. Phillips was a Miss Wilson of Pittsylvania county, and was 32 years old. She leaves a son, 5 years old. She is also survived by three sisters and two brothers. These are Mrs. S. P. James, of Richmond; Mrs. A. M. Sykes, of Newport News; Mrs. Cora L. Moon, of Manchester, and Messrs. J. T. and J. B. Wilson, of Richmond.
Mrs. Phillips had been in ill health for a long time. She returned two months ago from Charlotte, N. C., where she had spent some months in the hope of regaining her health. The funeral will take place from Broad-Street church tomorrow afternoon at 3 o'clock.
