Widely-Known Virginia Veteran Died in Tennessee.
T. W. Phillips aged sixty-six vears, a resident of Park City, died Monday night at 11:30 o clock. Mr. Phlllips was born at Port Republic. Va., September 6, 1845. He was married to Miss Virginia W. Gardner, January 7, 1868. To this union were bom eight Children, seven of whom survive him. The sons are: D. A. Pnillips. of Philadelphia; H. A. Phillips, of Chattanooga. and E. C, Phillips, of this city. The daughters are: Mrs. Maggie L. Hightower, Mrs. E. B. Mllligan, Mrs. Thos. P. Allen, of Richmond, and Miss Eva Phillips.
Two brothers and one sister reside In Virginia.
Mr. Phillips was a devoted husband and father, a devout Christian and loyal member of the East Park Avenue Methodist Episcopal Church. South.
He was a Confederate veteran. Ho enlisted In 1861 and served four years. He served under Stonewall Jackson; took part In the first battle of Manasssas In July, 1861; in the battle of Willlamsburg, May 4 and 5, 1862; at Fair Oaks, May 31 to June 1, 1862; the second battle of Bull Run. August 30, 1862; Antietam; September 17. 1862; Fredericksburg, December 16, 1862, and at Chancellorsville, May 1 to 4 1863. He was wounded and In the hospital at Richmond many months.
