Boyd W. Phillips
Boyd W. Phillips died in Allegan, March 8, 1892. Born in Manlius, Onondaga county, N. Y., August 16, 1813; came to Michigan in 1836-then a territory-settling in Cass county. In December, 1853, he came to Allegan and soon afterward moved into the old Pine Plains house, which he kept for many years, and afterwards, for a short time, kept hotel at Saugatuck. He was three times married: first, in Lockport, N. Y., to Miss Harriet A. Barton, who died in Cass county, in 1846; second, in Pine Plains, to Mrs. Pamelia Cook; and third, at Saugatuck, to Mrs. Kate Sherwood, who, with two sons and a daughter, survive him. Mr. Phillips was religiously a Universalist. He was well known by all the early settlers in western Allegan county. His age was 78 years, 7 months and 12 days.
