Beloved Former Resident Buried Here Tuesday
Funeral services for Mrs. E. H. Phillips, beloved and long-time resident of this city, who made her home in Atlanta, were held Tuesday afternoon from the First Baptist Church. Burial was in Rest Haven Cemetery.
The Rev. W. W. Richardson officiated at final rites, with the E. L. Almand Company in charge.
Mrs. Phillips died in the Walton County Hospital following an illness of one day. She was 72 years of age.
The following served as pallbearers: Emory Camp, Waren Noles, Willis Wells, Joe Aycock, Harry J. Horn and Glenn Hawkins.
Mrs. Phillips was the widow of Erasmus E. Phillips, who died in 1944, and was a member of a prominent family. She devoted her life to her family and friends and her kindness and gentle Christian character endured her to all who knew her. She was a member of the First Baptist Church. Her parents were the late John and Mary Felker Sorrells.
Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. A. F. (Sarah) Spruill of Atlanta; son-in-law, T. F. Camp, Atlanta; sister-in-law, Mrs. W. L. Jackson, Monroe, and one grandson, Frank Camp, Jr., Atlanta.
