It is with regret that we announce the death of James Phillips, Esqr., who breathed his last on the morning of the 12th, at his residence in the vicinity of this place. 61 years, 1 month and 21 days. The deceased was one of the first settlers of this village - and for honesty and integrity, he was esteemed by all who knew him. He was a worthy member of the Baptist church, and gave evidence in his last moments that he had been a true follower of the lamb.
For some months the health of Esquire Phillips had been very precarious, and on the evening of his death he was suddenly seized by a fit of apoplexy, which put an end to his mortal remains in a few hours.
In the demise of this man, his consort has lost a kind husband, his children an indulgent father, -society a worthy and respectable member, and Democracy an unbending and unwavering supporter. -Cassville Pioneer, 16th inst.
