Mrs. Phillips Dies Monday
Mrs. J. H. Phillips, 74, of Gafford Chapel died Wednesday at Memorial Hospital.
Final rites will be held at the Gafford Chapel church at 2:30 p.m. Friday, with the Rev. Roy Martin officiating, assisted by the Rev. B. W. Evans. Interment will be in the Gafford Chapel cemetery, with nephews serving as pallbearers.
She was born Rilla Hettich, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Sam Hettich, at Cleburne on Jan. 9, 1888. She moved to the Peerless community in Hopkins County as a young child. She was a member of the Methodist church.
She was married to John Phillips on May 28, 1905 at Peerless.
Survivors include three sons, Estes Phillips of Gafford Chapel, John Phillips, Jr. of Sulphur Springs, and Deryl Phillips of Houston; two daughters, Miss Dorothy Phillips and Mrs. Delma Ragan of Gafford Chapel; four grandchildren, and three brothers, Walter Hettich of Garland and Sam and Otis Hettich of Dallas.
Day and Day Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. The body will remain at the funeral home until an hour before services.
