Estes Phillips

Estes Phillips, 70, of 840 Alabama St., was buried in Gafford Chapel Cemetery following Monday afternoon services at Murray-Owosky Funeral Home. He died Sunday morning in Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Phillips was born in Hopkins County Feb. 10, 1908, to John Henry and Nancy Hettich Phillips. The life-long resident was a retired restaurant owner and was an Army veteran of World War II.

Survivors include his wife; brothers, John (Junior) Phillips of Sulphur Springs and Deryl Phillips of Mount Vernon; sisters, Delma Phillips and Dorothy Phillips, both of Sulphur Springs; a sister-in-law, Jo Phillips of Mount Vernon; two nieces and two nephews.

Services were conducted by the Rev. William Chandler. Cousins served as pallbearers.
