The Ropes Were Cut.
Syracuse, N.Y., July 7.-While a Prof. Smith was attempting a "slide of life," at Watertown, on July 4, his apparatus broke and Henry Phillips of that city fell sixty feet to the ground. Phillips died today. It has been discovered that the ropes holding Phillips were cut. The officials are investigating.
