Funeral services for Mr. William Ross Phillips, 65, of Houston, formerly of Mount Enterprise, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 25, 2005, at East Holley Spring Baptist Church, in Mount Enterprise, with Revs. Johnnie Johnson and Jerry C. Williams officiating. Burial will be in Camp Ground Cemetery, Mount Enterprise under the direction of Jenkins-Garmon Funeral Home, in Henderson.
Mr. Williams passed away Monday, June 20, in Houston. He was born the sixth child to the parentage of Lucious Phillips and Ida Velma Lewis Phillips in Rusk County on May 3, 1940. He graduated from Concord Colored High School in 1959, later in life he moved to Houston where he resided until his death. William was under the watchful care of Mr. Malcom Lobick and family for seventeen years as his personal care provider. Also, Rev. and Mrs. Cornelious Bishop provided for him until his demise. He united with New Missionary Baptist Church, in Houston under the pastorage of Rev. Morris and remained faithful until his health failed. William enjoyed and was a frequent attendee of Johnson and Johnson Adult Day Care Center and the Nixon Adult Day Care, in Houston. Mr. Phillips was preceded in death by his father, Lucious Phillips; mother, Ida Velma Lewis Phillips; brothers, Baby Phillips, Fred Lucious Phillips and Jessie Ray Phillips; sister, Pauline Phillips Isaac.
On Monday, June 20, 2005, William Ross Phillips entered into eternal rest at Hermann Memorial South Loop Hospital in Houston. He is survived by one sister, Lurline Phillips Simon; nieces, Kathy Simon Williams (Conual), Sharon Isaac Curry (Kevin) and Ida Phillips Anderson (David); nephews, Rayford Isaac, Jessie L. Phillips and wife; Quinton Phillips (Tracey) and Damon Phillips; a host of great nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Also a very special friend, Ms. Ceola Mae Paige.
Pallbearers will be nephews.
Public viewing will be from 1-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
