Harry Worth Phillips, Jr. age 77, passed away after a battle with Leukemia on March 29, 2005. He was born on May 26, 1927 in Fort Worth, TX to the late Harry Worth Phillips and Bess Thomas Phillips. Mr. Phillips was the publisher of Golf Houston Magazine.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Mary Purdy Phillips, and his children, Benay Stringer & husband Curly of Bellville, Texas, Elisa Smith and husband Shirl of Key West, Florida, and Patrick Phillips and wife Lynette of Cypress, Texas. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Jason Smith of San Juan, Puerto Rico, Chris Smith of Key West, FL., Josh Phillips, US Army - Germany, and Bethany Stringer of Bellville, TX, as well as numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, Walt Phillips, his parents, and a brother, Thomas Phillips.
A celebration of Harry's life will be held on Sunday, April 3, 2005 at 4:00 PM in the chapel of Earthman Hunters Creek Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations are asked to be made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Texas, 5005 Mitchelldale, Ste. 115, Houston, TX. 77092.
