Heart Attack Is Fatal To A.T. Phillips
Funeral services for A. Terrell Phillips, 57, of Oostanaula were conducted Monday at 3 p.m. at Oostanaula Baptist Church with the Rev. Frank Cobb and the Rev. Z.T. Carr of Rockmart officiating. Interment was in Fain Cemetery.
Mr. Phillips died of a heart attack in a local theatre Saturday at about 5 p.m. He was pronounced dead upon arrival at Gordon County Hospital. A lifelong resident of Gordon county, he was a member of Oostanaula Baptist Church and a farmer.
He is survived by his wife, the former Miss Myrtle Taylor of Gordon County; three daughters, Mrs. J.C. Crump, Mrs. Roy Blalock and Miss Virginia Phillips all of Calhoun; four sons, Max and A.T. Phillips of Calhoun, Richard and Thomas Phillips of Rhome; five grandchildren; mother, Mrs. Arch Phillips of Springfield, Ohio; four sisters, Mrs. Jimmy Lewis of Atlanta, Mrs. Gilbert Adams of Long Island, N.Y., Mrs. Aden Anderson and Mrs. Archie Lee both of Rhome; two brothers, Ralph Phillips of Springfield, Ohio and Travis Phillips of Curryville.
Pallbearers were Herschel White, Sam Cardem, James Faulkner, Junior Walraven, George Amos and Junior McKissick.
Honorary pallbearers were Horace Patterson, Herman White, John Cagle, Ernest Avery, Lawrence Stone and Milton Squires.
