PHILLIPS-Wharton, Tex., Oct. 9.-Judge W.J. Phillips, one of the oldest citizens of this county, died here to-day in his 74th year. Judge Phillips was a Mexican war veteran, having served in Capt. Ben McCullough's command. He was also deputy United States marshal two or three terms under republican administrations.
