Judge A.L. Phillips Dies on Visit Here

Judge A.L. Phillips, 64 years old, died Wednesday while visiting at the home of his daughter, Mrs. W.O. Lyle, 5631 Roscoe street.

The body was sent Wednesday afternoon by the Ed C. Smith & Bros. Undertaking Company to Clovis, N. M. for burial. For the last sixteen years he had been a resident of Clovis, but before that time he was a resident of the Rodgers community, near Dallas, for twenty-five years.

He is survived by his wife and two sons, J.W. and A.B. Phillips of Clovis, and two daughters, Mrs. Lyle and Mrs. W.E. Buthurum of Dallas.

Judge Phillips was born in Tennessee and moved to Texas forty-four years ago. He was married to Miss Nannie Humbard in 1882. They were pioneer citizens of Dallas County.
He was serving on his fourth year as Probate Judge at Clovis at the time of his death. He had previously served as County Commissioner. He was a member of the board of stewards of the First Methodist Episcopal Church of Clovis.
