James Roark Phillips was born in Marion, Louisiana on June 29, 1922, and died May 31, 2011 in Richardson, Texas.
He graduated from Louisana Tech and served as a Marine Captain in World War Two Pacific Theatre. Jim worked for Bristol-Myers for 35 years and was an avid golfer.
He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Mildred Keller Phillips; daughter Midge Claiborne; sons James R. Phillips, Jr., Michael Phillips and wife Suzanne, Lee Phillips and Elia Silva; sister-in-law Sherry Phillips; cousins Robertine Cobb and Jane Oliver; grand-children Courtney, Adam and Amanda Claiborne; Darren Phillips; Coby Phillips and Gilbert Garza; Katie and Jimmie Phillips; Meagan Phillips and Johnathan Martinez; great grand-children Tyler Nicole Phillips, Grahm Claiborne, and Chandler Martinez.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the St. Paul Building Fund. Memorial Liturgy on June 18, 2011, St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 720 South Floyd Road, Richardson, Texas 75080, 2 pm.
