Mary Elizabeth Phillips of Rt. 4, Rusk, age 82, died last night about 7:00 in Rusk Memorial Hospital following an extended illness. She had lived around Rusk all of her life. She was a member of Rusk’s Calvary Baptist Church.

Funeral services were Sunday afternoon in the Rocky Springs Baptist Church conducted by the Reverend Don Copeland. Interment followed in the Rocky Springs Cemetery under the direction of Wallace Funeral Home.

Mrs. Phillips is survived by four sons, John W. Phillips and Ruben W. Phillips, both of Rusk and Tom and Walter Phillips of Jacksonville; two daughters, Mrs. Tempie McCall of Tyler and Mrs. Florrie Sosby of Rusk; her stepmother, Mrs. Viola Halbert of Rusk; three brothers, Asberry Halbert, Jessie Halbert and Tom Halbert, all of Rusk; three sisters, Mrs. Bonnie Halbert of Dallas; Mrs. Mary Jane Watson and Mrs. Montie Nollie or Rusk; 9 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were C.N. Phillips, Clyde Phillips, Earnest Fields, Jack Philips, Corry Ray Philips, and Curtis Maner.
