Funeral service for Mrs. Viola P. Halbert, 97, of Rusk were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Wallace Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Rocky Springs Cemetery with Wallace Funeral Home directing. The Rev. Don Copeland and the Rev. Kenneth Southwell officiated.

Mrs. Halbert died Monday afternoon in Rusk Memorial Hospital after a short illness. She was a member of Oakland Baptist Church and a lifelong resident of Rusk.

Survivors include Tom Halbert, Rusk; Asberry Halbert, Rusk; Jesse Halbert, Rusk; James Edward Halbert, Fort Worth; Mrs. Bonnie Halbert, Rusk; Mrs. Mary Jane Watson, Rusk; Mrs. Monnie Molley, Rusk; Mrs. Tina Bell Rogers, Dialville; and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Emory Halbert, Edgar Defor, Emmitt Scott, Jr., John Phillips, and Johnny Halbert.
