Corry Newton Phillips, of Cherokee Co. TX.

Funeral for Corry N. Phillips, 80, of Rusk, was at 4 p.m. Thursday in the Wallace-Thompson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Don Copeland officiating. Burial was in Mount Hope Cemetery.

Mr. Phillips died Tuesday in a Rusk nursing home after a long illness. He was born March 30, 1912, in Rusk. He was a Baptist and a life-long Rusk resident. He retired from Rusk State Hospital after 32 years of service.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Corry Ray and Debbie Phillips of Rusk; a daughter and son-in-law, Lela Mae and Curtis Mainer of Rusk; a sister, Adelle Parker of Rusk; a brother, Clyde Phillips of Rusk; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
