James Reed Phillips, US Navy, Ret, 85, of Kershaw,SC died March 31, 2009 Mr. Phillips was born June 26, 1923, in Lancaster, SC, a son of Dock Phillips and Maybel Phillips Phillips. He was a boatswain mate and served during WWII. Mr. Phillips was also a retired pipe fitter at the Charleston Naval Shipyard. He was a member of the American Legion, Jackson Lodge #53 AFM and a Shriner. Mr. Phillips was first married to the late Fannie Catoe Phillips.

Surviving are his wife Shirley Roberts Phillips; two daughters Sandy Phillips Stone of Summerville, SC and Cindi Phillips Tracy of Smyrna, TN; a sister, Betty Phillips Clough of Lancaster, two brothers Robert Phillips, and Jack London Phillips both of Lancaster, four grandchildren, three great children.
