The comments in parenthesis after the marriage records are speculative.

3 February 1786 Ann Phillips married Benjamin Norris Finley. (It appears from deed records that Ann was probably the sister of Joseph Phillips. This marriage may have technically taken place in Wilkes County instead of Greene County, since Greene County was not carved out of Wilkes County until 1786. A Joseph Phillips appears to have moved to Washington/Greene Co by 1786. I suspect that Joseph and Ann were the children of Zachariah Phillips and his first wife Mary White.)

13 October 1787 Sarah Phillips married John Stroud. (From deed records it appears that Sarah had a brother named Joseph and sisters who married William Fitzpatrick, George Clough, Uzziah Finley, Norris Finley. These sisters appear to have been Tabitha Phillips FitzPatrick, Mary Phillips Clough, Milly Phillips Finley and Ann Phillips Finley. I suspect that Joseph and his sisters were the children of Zachariah Phillips and his first wife Mary White.)

24 January 1800 Jonathan Phillips married Betsey Howell. (Betsey was the putative daughter of Nathaniel and Ann Howell. Issue according to researcher Lowell Phillips: Reuben, Sarah, Rebecca, James A.T., Nancy, John C. and one unidentified daughter. Jonathan might have been the son of a Reuben Phillips of NC. Information according to researcher Charlie Blakely:
Jonathan Phillips born 1784 in North Carolina (?) married Elizabeth Howell daughter of Nathaniel Howell. Their children were
1. Reuben Phillips born 18 Jul 1804 who married Sallie Burrow. He died 27 Jan 1897 at Iredell, Bosque Co. TX
2. James Augustus Phillips
3. Sarah Phillips b. ca. 1802 married Joseph Crockett
4. Nathaniel Phillips who died 1828
5. John Clark Phillips b. 1813 married 1st Mary Phillips
6. Rebecca Phillips
7. Bathsheba Phillips born 1810 who married 17 Oct. 1830 to Joel White Phillips)

19 May 1800 Vicey Phillips married Henry Walker. (Vicey appears to have been the daughter of Zachariah and his second wife Rachel Walker Wall Phillips. Zachariah moved to Washington/Greene County by 1786. Henry Walker was the only son of Sylvanus and Alice/Alcy Phillips/Pilcher Walker. Zachariah’s second wife Rachel was the putative sister of Sylvanus Walker.)

30 December 1801 Bathsheba Phillips married Josiah Patrick. (Bathsheba may have been the daughter of Zachariah and his second wife Rachel Walker Wall Phillips. Josiah’s last name Patrick might have really been FitzPatrick.)

17 November 1804 Rachel Phillips married James Armor. (Rachel was likely the daughter of Zachariah and his second wife Rachel Walker Wall Phillips.)

20 September 1805 Elijah Phillips married Tabitha/Talitha Walker. (Elijah Phillips, born 1780, died 1861 Meriwether Co, GA was the son of Joel and Elizabeth Phillips, because Elizabeth mentioned him in her will proved in Wilkes County in 1816. Tabitha Walker was the daughter of Sylvanus Walker and the sister of Henry Walker.)

20 November 1806 Mary Phillips married Daniel Jackson. (Mary was the daughter of Mark Phillips, because Mark mentioned his son-in-law Daniel Jackson in his will which was proved in Greene County in 1817. Three descendants of Mark and Nancy have been DNA tested and appear in Group 53.)

28 December 1806 Nancy Phillips married Washington Beard. (Nancy was the daughter of Mark Phillips, because Mark mentioned his son-in-law Washington Beard in his will which was proved in Greene County in 1817.)

25 September 1810 Elbert Phillips married Charlotte Howell. (Charlotte was the sister of Betsey Howell who married Jonathan Phillips. Was Elbert Phillips related to Jonathan Phillips?)

31 August 1814 Elizabeth Phillips married James Lee. (Elizabeth might be the daughter or granddaughter of Joel and Elizabeth Phillips, because James Lee witnessed Elizabeth’s will in 1832. However, Elizabeth Sr does not mention an Elizabeth Jr in her will.)

23 October 1814 Hardy Phillips married Rebecca Veazey. (Hardy Phillips was probably the son of Mark and Nancy Phillips. He was mentioned in the will of Mark Phillips which was proved in Greene County GA in 1817.)

27 Dec 1821 Jesse B. Phillips married Betsy Martin. (Jesse Bush Phillips was the son of Mark Phillips because he was mentioned in the will of Mark Phillips proved in Greene County in 1817.
