The comments in parenthesis after the marriage records are speculative.

24 January 1811 John Phillips married Olive Hunt. (A family file posted on Ancestry.com suggests that John was the son of James R Phillips and Martha Parnell. A descendant of James Phillips and Martha Parnell has been DNA tested and appears in Phillips Family DNA Group 57. Family researcher Anne Westbrook says the will of James R. Phillips which was probated in Newton Co GA in 1834 lists the following children in the following order: Trustin, Joel, John, Mary, Daniel, Sarah, Solomon, Elijah, James, Abigail and Priscilla.)

31 January 1819 Elizabeth Phillips/Philips married James Mason. (James and Elizabeth Mason appear on the 1850 Sabine Co TX census. The census indicates they were both born in SC. They are both buried in the Mason Cemetery in Sabine Co TX. The tombstone indicates he was born in 1799 and she was born in 1800.)
