PHILLIPS, John
Died in Warren County, Tennessee leaving children who became a charge upon the county, his wife having died previously. The children were all bound out. The youngest child, John A. Phillips, who was less than two years old at the time, was cared for by a neighbor, James W. Williams. James W. Williams made application on 2 October 1882 to adopt James A. Phillips. The child is now 7 years of age. James W. Williams has resided in Sequatchie County 4 years. Adoption was granted and the name changed from John Anderson Phillips to John Anderson Williams.
