NATHANIEL G. PHILLIPS,
Representative in 1865 from Shiawassee county, was born at Preston, Conn., Nov. 20, 1825. He attended an academy at Norwalk, O., for three years, and came to Shiawassee county with his widowed mother and settled on a farm in 1840. From 1851 to 1853 was in California. His present farm forms the location of the village of Bancroft.
