Phillips, Martin V. B.. Shrewsbury, p. o. Cuttingsvllle, was born in Rensselaer county, N. Y., on February 27,1836. He was reared aud educated in Danby, but settled in Shrewsbury in 1870, on a farm of 338 acres. He now has a dairy of thirty-three cows, aud is a breeder of the Ohio improved Chester hogs, also a breeder of thoroughbred Holstein cattle. His parents were Smith and Irene (Clark) Phillips, residents of Danby, Vt., from 1844 to 1847. He was married in December, 1862, to Ruamie Weatherby, a daughter of David and Sarah (Fish) Weatherby, of Danby. Martin V. B. had five children, David L, Ida A., Adele (who died at the age of five years and six months), Minnie and Herbert M.
