He Returns and Claims to Have Made $25,000 Out of the Champion.
MONTREAL, Feb. 10.-Harry Phillips, John L. Sullivan’s manager, returned last night from England, where he had been with the champion. He said to-day: “We have made about $25,000 each, and I left Sullivan in the hands of four trainers: Ned Holske of Boston, Jack Ashton of Providence, Jack Barnett of New York, and Sam Blakelock of London, to prepare him for his fight with Mitchell. We will toss for the location of the fight, and it will probably take place in France. The rumor started that I had fallen out with Sullivan is all moonshine. This fight is costing me a lot of money, but I thought that as I had placed John L. in training I might just as well take a run across to Belgium and France, and then take a look at my stables here. The fight will be for $2000 a side. I expect to go back in about three weeks.”
