How can two men with the same lineage match each other perfectly on 37 STR markers and yet be shown as belonging to different haplogroups on our project's DNA chart? The answer is they don't really belong to different haplogroups. A perfectly valid match can be shown with a different haplogroup designation because one man has taken a more specific or refined or different DNA test than the other man. If both men took the exact same tests, they would be shown with the same haplogroup designation.
