I am a Decendent of Abraham Phillips DNA Family Group 25

I am Researching who Abraham Phillips father Was and Which Phillips Had a Cantrell Father. I am thinking that possibly David Phillips 1755 Caswell County Had a Cantrell Father. He is listed on the the Cantrell DNA testing website and tax records show John Cantrell lived in the same area that David was born in 1755.

As Far as Abraham Phillips I have seen alot of people listing his Parents as John & Polly Phillips I Can find no proof of this anywhere other than a guess that Judith McClung made in her book back in 1987, this was before dna testing & before a lot of information was available on the internet. I believe it is more likley that either David Phillips or his son Thomas Phillips would be Abraham's father.

Here is some information I have put together for David Phillips so far, not all if any of this can be correct because the Possible Relatives & Fathers listed below all come from different DNA Family Groups. Any help would be appreaciated.

Nancy Kiser can probably answer this question better than I can, but is it thought to be a NPE . Please know an NPE can occur without a surname change, such as infidelity, adoption or remarriage of a woman with children from a previous marriage when the children take the surname of their new step father.

The general theory right now is that David's mother, Elizabeth, had a secret affair with a Cantrell man while she was married to a Phillips man who was the brother of Abraham Philips. She raised David who was the result of that affair with the surname Phillips. Elizabeth named David Phillips and George Phillips as her sons in her will. A descendant of George has gotten tested and he matches the Y-DNA of Group 16, which also contains descendants of Abraham Phillips. The Y-DNA of descendants of her other son, David, match the Y-DNA of Group 25 which appears to have Cantrell Y-DNA.

That was what I was thinking, that must be the case since A descendant of George has gotten tested and he matches the Y-DNA of Group 16. Thank you mentioning about her will, I just looked at her will, I had always thought that Tomlin was her maiden name that must of been her last husband's name because she list's theses as her children in her will. Abraham Phillips was the executioner of the will.

George Phillips (Son)
David Phillips (Son)
Sara Bridges (Daughter,, Married William Bridges)
Charles Tomlin (Son)
John Tomlin (Son)
Sara Baker (Sister)
Job Baker (Sister's Husband)
